Born out of a shared obsession with Scandinavian metal, Corrode took shape in Bangalore in 2007 when college friends Vinay and Harsha began channelling the sounds of Dark Tranquillity, Wintersun, Insomnium, Arch Enemy, and Children of Bodom into something of their own. After a period of writing with session musicians, the lineup crystallised when they crossed paths with Aditya, Nikil, and Ashwin — veterans of brutal death metal outfit Macabre Intent — whose musical sensibilities were a natural fit.
The five-piece hit the Bangalore circuit hard, playing almost entirely original material. In 2010, guitarist Harsha relocated to the US, prompting vocalist Aditya to pick up a second guitar and reshape the band as a leaner four-piece. A year later, bassist Nikil followed him abroad, and longtime fan Shashank stepped in to fill the low end. This final lineup went on to headline shows across Bangalore and beyond, sharing stages with Kryptos and other pillars of the Indian metal scene.
In 2012, Corrode released their debut record Lapse Into Delirium — and promptly scattered across continents. The band has been on hiatus ever since, the album standing as a document of what they built together.
